Personal Training: Frequently Asked Questions

Trainer, Michael Giesler & Client

Q:  Why should I use a Personal Trainer if I already work out on my own?

A:  A trainer can help motivate and educate you so that you do not waste your time.  With a trainer you will do what works for YOU which will help you achieve your goals much faster.

Q:  How often should I meet with a trainer?

A:  This depends on your goals, your schedule and your budget.  On average clients do best when they meet with a trainer 2-4 times per week.

Q:  Will a trainer put me on a diet or expect me to change my lifestyle?

A:  While Personal Trainers are generally very knowledgeable regarding nutrition it is important to remember that they are not licensed dieticians.  Your trainer may discuss basic nutrition information based on your goals.  We recommend that you meet with a dietician or a Refinery Nutrition Coach for specific information regarding eating habits.

Q:  Aren’t trainers for serious athletes or people who want to lose a lot of weight?

A:  No.  Personal Trainers are there to motivate you and design a program that will work for YOU.  Doing the same workout over and over again is the #1 reason people hit plateaus with results.  A trainer will give you new and improved ways to work out.

Q:  Isn’t it expensive to work with a Trainer?

A:  This depends on your interpretation of expensive and your view of such an expense.  Personal Training is not a cost; it is an investment in you.  How much are you willing to spend on your health?
